DIY Natural Deodorant – Aluminum Free!

Happy Wellness Wednesday everyone! I hope the week has been good to you so far and that the rest is even better. So today’s Wellness tip is also a DIY but because it’s a wellness DIY, these and my other health-related DIY tips will post every Wednesday for my Wellness Wednesday blog.

Today’s DIY Wellness Plan is, swapping out your carcinogenic deodorant for a safer, natural or alternative. It’s easy, it’s cheap and best of all it’s safe.
Most deodorants today contain aluminum which is said to be carcinogenic and toxic to the body. The aluminum enters your body through your sweat glands in your armpits and let’s just put it this way, it’s not supposed to be there!
Enter the happy alternative! Natural deodorant that is easy to make and even a bit fun to make too!
3 tablespoons of organic coconut oil
3 tablespoons of baking soda
2 tablespoons of arrowroot powder
Essential oils (optional)
Small glass container for storage
This is a super easy recipe that you can do in a matter of 5 minutes.
First, you’ll want to mash your coconut oil as much as possible with a fork and add in your baking soda and arrowroot powder and mix real well. I like to use my KitchenAid mixing on low for about 10 minutes just to make sure that it gets all mixed in there really good. If you’re adding essential oils, 10 drops should do it depending on how strong you’d like your scent to be.
Remove from your Kitchen Aid mixer and add to your storage container.
All that’s left to do is apply it to your armpits.
This stuff really works guys and gals! I’m in the gym a couple of hours a day and this helps me with sweat absorption and as an odor preventative and it’s completely toxin-free.
The only thing that I will say, is that when you first start using a natural deodorant you probably are going to smell a bit ripe for a few days. This is just because your body needs to flush out the aluminum and the chemicals from the previous deodorant you’ve been using. But stick it out as best as you can because once your body is flushed of those, and the new natural deodorant is being used, it’s going to work like a charm

Making Time For Yourself… Do it!

Hello everyone and Happy Thursday! I know, I’m a day late with putting up my Wellness Wednesday post and I apologize, just been a bit busy and caught up with some things but I wanted to make sure that I get a wellness post in for this week because today’s topic might be one of the most important bits of information I could share. That being, taking time out for yourself.


Sounds simple doesn’t it? Well as simple as it does sound, all too often so many lack the time for self-care. When I say they lack the time, it’s not that they lack the time, they’re just not making the time. You might be saying to yourself, there’s no way! I just don’t have the time or any way to make the time! Are you reading this blog right now? Do you scroll through your Facebook feed And get sucked into the status updates abyss? Do you dedicate a minimum of 40 hours a week to a job that would replace you in two seconds if something were to happen to you? If your answer is yes to any of those questions, then you can make the time for yourself.
By making time for yourself, you’re being more kind to your own body and mind. Making that time for yourself could mean anything. Maybe it’s a class at the gym that you wanted to take, maybe it’s a craft you wanted to work on, maybe it’s a show you just wanted to sit down and watch by yourself while drinking a nice warm cup of tea. Whatever it is that you would like to do, it’s so important that you make that time to do that for yourself.
People work so hard at a job where you are essentially, just a number and easily replaceable. Now that’s not to say just quit your job and spend all your time at home of course. We all need to make money, by all means, do your job but don’t forget to make time for you when you come home or even before work if you’re a morning person. Even if it’s just a 30-minute meditation session. Anything is good when you’re dedicating it to yourself and to your well-being.
Me personally, my me-time is spent at the gym. I love working out, I enjoy it and I feel amazing afterwards in so many ways. I used to work out very often before but when I got my home, unfortunately, I put my physical health on the back burner for a while and focused just on the house. Now, I love my home and while I’d love to make it look exactly the way I want it in as little time as possible, I know that all along I should have still been making even that small amount of time per day to spend at the gym to make my body feel better. But hey, nothing is ever too late. no matter how far gone you may think you are right now is the first moment of the rest of your life so…start! And start NOW.
Spend your time in the here and now and enjoy life as it comes at you. Let go of toxic people and toxic situations. Focus on the little things. The important things. Take time to stop and smell the flowers because you want to. Just enjoy life because we are only here on borrowed time and if we don’t take care of ourselves including our mind and body we’re setting ourselves up for unhealthy habits that could lead to problems down the road. Make that time for yourself. No matter what. You’re worth it my friends. Enjoy the rest of your week!

Benefits Of Drinking Lemon Ginger Water Every Morning

Hey guys! Welcome to Wellness Wednesday! As you know everyone’s day is a Blog that’s going to be health-related and today’s topic is, the benefits of drinking lemon water, specifically in the morning.


Let’s stop and take a moment to think of what happens when we actually wake up in the morning. You’ve just been fasting for about 8 hours at least with no food or drink so your body and mind is pretty groggy, slow-moving and adjusting to waking up. When you wake up in the morning the first thing you put into your body is going to get your body and mind moving. Let that first thing be warm lemon water and if you like ginger, and you should because it’s amazingly good for you as well, at a couple of slices of Ginger to your lemon water. So let’s go over some of the benefits of this warm lemon ginger water.
1) To flush out toxins:
During sleep mode, your liver is working its hardest. The reason for this is because the body has finally wound down and just like a battery it’s recharging. To help your body perform this function more effectively, drinking lemon water aids in the stimulation of stomach acid and bile production and makes the job on your liver a little bit easier to flush out the toxins.
2) Aids in digestion:
Drinking warm lemon water is especially helpful in aiding digestion. I always like to compare our bodies to a pipe. Imagine if you pour coconut oil into a pipe and you run cold water down the drain. What’s going to happen? The coconut oil is going to solidify and stick to the sides of the pipe making it that much harder for water to flow through freely and allow the drain to do its job. Now, take that same coconut oil in the drain and run hot water down the sink drain and you’ll find that the coconut oil melts and disappears on sticking to the side walls of the pipe and allowing the water to flow freely through it. The same holds true with our digestive system. Drinking warm lemon water in the morning really gets the digestive system moving and at the same time rehydrates the body after your fast.
3) Boosts immunity:
Lemons are known to contain a good amount of vitamin C. The great thing about drinking this warm lemon water in the morning is since it’s the very first thing you’re in taking, your body will better be able to absorb the vitamins and minerals from the lemons giving you that added immunity boost which will help to prevent colds, and germs from wreaking havoc on your immunity.
4) Glowing skin:
Ever see a person that drinks warm lemon water every morning? They just have this natural glow about them and you can see it radiating through their skin. When we flush toxins out of our body it helps to make our skin clearer and healthier.
5) Metabolism boost:
Studies have shown that those who drink warm lemon water in the morning everyday tend to weigh less than those who do not. Of course, this is not to say that lemon water will make you lose a hundred pounds. But the theory is that the warm lemon water stimulates your metabolism making it faster and even boost your energy levels throughout the day. Some say it even crushes their cravings 4 bad foods throughout the day as well.
How about that ginger?
Ladies and gentlemen, Ginger is amazing for so many reasons but when you go ahead and mix a couple of slices with your warm lemon water, it becomes a powerhouse for stomach health. Ginger in addition to the lemon also is great for skin Health, boost your immune system, stimulates digestion and metabolism and additionally helps to purify blood and flush out toxins and unnecessary waste.
So how should you make your ginger lemon water? Well it’s pretty straightforward guys just make some water in your tea kettle get hot, but not boiling, add a couple of slices of lemon and a couple of slices of Ginger to the cup and pour over the warm water. Sip and enjoy! I promise you you are going to feel those benefits immediately after you drink that very first cup and you’re going to notice how your body changes with the simple morning routine.
We work our bodies super hard ladies and gentleman and we need to make sure that we take the necessary steps to really reboot ourselves and take care of ourselves the proper way. We’ve only got one body in this world and if we don’t take care of it now we’re looking for problems later.

Join Me On A 30-Day Challenge To A Better You

Hey guys, Happy Wednesday! This is an overview of Arbonne’s 30-Day Challenge and what it can do for you. I started this challenge on March 5th and I am currently on day 9 and feeling amazing!


So we first can start with the question of, why would a person want to do a cleanse? The answer to that question is very simple, it’s because we want to feel better. Some people will say it’s about weight loss and that’s okay, but why do you want to lose weight? The answer, it’s because you want to feel better. So feeling better is the overall goal. You want to feel better about yourself emotionally first and then the physical feel good feelings will follow. Too often, we lose sight of the importance of taking care of ourselves. We get so caught up in the moment of being busy and going to work and working so many hours and pulling double shifts that we forget how important our bodies are. Unfortunately, this is all too common and it’s not until we actually sit down and really take the time to think about what’s important to us.

And YOU should be what’s most important to YOU.
Do you take your car for regular oil changes? Do you make sure that you have gas in your tank before driving on E? Do you make sure to put quality gas in your gas tank? You do so much to take care of your car, why not do the same thing for yourself? We only have one body guys, and we need to start taking care of it now so that we can enjoy a long, happy and healthy life.
I’ve always been very into physical fitness and working out and taking classes and following a vegetarian diet. Generally, I’d like to think that I do eat healthy but there are times that I fall off and go on a binge for a week and the important thing is I always catch myself but I do want to minimize that now as much as possible and really reap the benefits of a full bad ass cleanse.
Enter Arbonne!
So I became a consultant with Arbonne about 2 months ago and I’ve received the most amazing support from the most amazing people who have really been helping me on my journey both financially and with my physical health. So this 30 day cleanse offers a month’s worth of products that is going to really cleanse the toxins out of your body and really jump start your system to feel better. Honestly, I’m on day 9 and I was actually feeling better after day 1, so that’s really saying something.
Shake Mix
The first product I’d like to talk about is the protein powder. Guys, I cannot stress enough how picky I am about protein powder. I have tried so many different kinds of protein and every last one of them had always had this gritty awful aftertaste that just sent me running. This protein powder is absolutely delicious, vegan derived and keeps you full for quite some time. I love to use it as a post-workout Shake, especially when I’m lifting heavy weights. It’s a really great post-workout shake and actually has been reducing my next-day soreness. My favorite recipe, if you want to give it a shot when you try your cleanse, is a 1/4 cup of blueberries, 1/4 cup of pineapples and 1/4 cup of strawberries (all organic) mixed with organic coconut milk and two scoops of this protein powder. Guys, I’m telling you, it is delicious. To me, it’s more like a treat that I actually look forward to. For your protein shake you want to do this daily and you can have anywhere between one and two shakes per day.  Two scoops of this protein powder contains 20 grams of vegan Protein that’s going to help you feel full. It’s fructose, Dairy, and lactose free so anyone who’s lactose-intolerant is going to thrive on this powder. It’s going to help boost your energy and retain your healthy blood sugar levels. There are also 20 essential vitamins and minerals and it contains no cholesterol, saturated fats, trans fats, artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners.
The next product I’d like to talk about is the daily fiber boost supplement. Unfortunately, most people do not actually get enough fiber in their diet and this supplement is here to help you with that. Just one scoop of this fiber includes 12 grams of fiber which is half of your recommended daily amount that’s going to help you to feel Fuller longer yours again no saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol or artificial colors or flavors in this product. What I like to do is mix it with a green juice that I have every morning. A recipe that is my favorite is one cucumber, one lemon, 1 inch of ginger and one apple. I juice that up and then I add a scoop of the daily fiber boost for a real green smoothie. And it helps me feel full which is always a good thing.
Fizz Sticks
Next up, is the energy Fizz sticks. Okay, who remembers Pop Rocks as a kid?! If you’re like me and you love Pop Rocks you’re going to love these energy Fizz sticks because they have the same cool reaction when you add the water to it but without the awful ingredients that the pop rocks contains LOL. So you can have anywhere between 1 to 3 energy Fizz sticks per day. They come in two flavors, pomegranate and citrus. The Citrus is very orange-y which is kind of similar to Airborne if you ever tried that. The pomegranate is my favorite because I just prefer a pomegranate but you choose what you like. These fizzy sticks are going to help give you energy. Since most of us are addicted to our daily coffee fix and then get a 2:30 crash, on this 30-day challenge, we are not to be drinking coffee at all. So these energy Fizz sticks are going to give us that boost that we need and help us to feel less fatigue and give us antioxidants and B vitamins to help support our energy levels.
Next up is the herbal detox tea. If you’re like me and you love to have a nice warm cup of something at night while you’re maybe reading a book in bed this would be great for you you can have anywhere between 1 to 2 cups of this herbal detox tea per day. I love to have one in the mid-afternoon and then 1 in the evening as I’m reading a book. It’s just really great to keep things moving and keep your body stimulated. The best example I can think of is this, if you spill coconut oil down the drain and you put cold water down that drain, what’s going to happen? The coconut oil is going to solidify and get stuck all around the pipe. However if you run some boiling water down that drain, the coconut oil is going to melt and move down the drain and help everything move more smoothly. So this herbal detox tea is going to be really great to help keep your system stimulated. It also tastes great too!
The other product that you should consume on a daily basis is going to be the digestion plus dietary supplements. This product contains probiotics and prebiotics fiber chicory and enzymes to help support healthy digestion which is going to minimize gas and bloating. It also helps support digestion of carbohydrates, fats, protein, fiber and lactose. Basically it’s going to promote the balance in your intestinal tract and also keep things moving.
7 Day Cleanse
The last thing I’d like to talk about is the 7-Day body cleanse dietary supplements. Now you might be saying to yourself, well this is a 30-day challenge how was the 7-Day body cleanse. More on the schedule in a moment. This is the product that will be introduced in week three. The reason we introduce this product in week 3 and not automatically starting in the beginning, is because, we want to get our bodies used to this cleanse. Whenever you’re used to a certain way of life your body is going to react to any changes that you do to it. So, if you’ve been eating a lot of processed food or things that are really harsh on your system, it’s going to be a bit of a shock when you first start this cleanse. And what you need to do is ease your way into it. More on that in a moment. The 7-Day body cleanse product gently cleanses your body and system and assists with gentle elimination of toxins it’s going to support your liver health, GI health and promote a real sense of well-being. For this product what you would do is just mix it in some water and you can either sip it throughout the day or you can down at all at once. The choice is up to you.
So here we have all of these products. How do you use them? What do you combine them with? Well, here’s a breakdown my regimen which you can use as a guide and mix and match these products to get the most out of your 30-day cleanse. 
8:00am: warm water with lemon juice
8:30am: green juice with 1 scoop of fiber boost
10:00am: 1 organic egg on wheat free muffin
12:00pm: 1 herbal detox tea
2:00pm: 1 energy fizz stick w/water
3:00pm: 1/2 cup organic brown rice w/veggies
4:00pm: 60 minutes of exercise
5:00pm: post workout shake (two scoops of the protein powder, 1 digestion Plus Pack, one scoop of the daily fiber boost, 1/4 cup of organic pineapple, 1/4 cup of organic strawberries, and 1/4 cup of organic blueberries with one cup of organic coconut milk blend it on high.
7:00pm: 1 energy fizz stick w/water
9:00pm: 1 herbal detox tea
Continue the above regimen for the full 30 days. The only thing you’re going to add is going to be on week 3 and that’s the 7-Day body cleanse. What I do with the 7-Day body cleanse is simply mix the packet with 64 oz of water in my Klean kanteen and I just sip it throughout the day.
You can follow my regimen and of course feel free to tweak it to your needs if you need a little bit less fiber or maybe you can get away with this one scoop of protein instead of two or maybe you want to do three energy Fizz sticks per day or just one cup of the herbal detox tea per day. Whatever works for you, whatever is going to help ease you into creating a better you go for it.
You may fall off a little bit. You may go binge eating in week 4. It’s highly unlikely though because you’re going to feel so good by that time that you’re not even going to want those things anymore and your palate is going to change. But in case you do at any point, fall off that wagon, don’t be afraid to get up dust off your shoulders and get right back on there. This journey is not about perfection. This journey is about creating a better you and hooking arms with other people that want to do better for themselves.
Again, we live in a very fast paced world and unfortunately many of us put ourselves on the back burner and forget our health and bodies into consideration. That stops now guys. Do what’s best for you so that you can feel better and be your best self and not have those 2:30 p.m. crashes or those gut issues or those uncomfortable bloated gassy feelings. In order to create change, you have to move out of your comfort zone just a little bit and make that change. Manifest your dreams and what you would like for yourself. Only you have the power to do so.
